About
Hi! I'm Rosalind (Rosie).
I learnt to sew before I learnt to service machines, which was how I first got interested in the mechanics of sewing machines themselves.
While I don't have the years of experience as some of my fellow mechanics out there (yet!), I have by now worked on several hundred machines of all different shapes, sizes and temperaments. As a keen sewer myself, I also fully appreciate how difficult sewing and using a sewing machine can be and therefore am glad to give user advice where I can.

Here's One I Made Earlier

Machines I’ve used myself for sewing include vintage Singers, a couple of basic Janomes and an advanced Brother, which helps me understand what it's like to sew a variety of projects on different types of machines and relate to customers. At the moment I'd like to learn to darn on my sewing machine, although maybe I'll make more holes than when I started?!
Mechanic training
I gained my Domestic Lockstitch Mechanic Levels 1,2,3 and 4 in 2024 at Artizan Training in Kent, who are the leading providers of sewing machine technical and mechanical training in the sewing industry.
I am also a trained PAT tester, which I now put to good use testing the electrical safety of vintage sewing machines that are brought to me for service. I can also be found on internet forums helping trainee mechanics and sewing machine users with troubleshooting.
